Sunday 8-30-09- the 49 Fire starts about 2:40pm PST

Monday 8-31-09, 9:20pm- Per Cal Fire 340 acres have been burned - fire is 70% contained at the time of this update. Evacuations have been lifted for area residents. As a preliminary estimate 50 residences & 10 commercial structures have been destroyed. The cause of the fire is under investigation.

September 2, 2009 -Per CalFire - 343 acres - 100% contained; 63 residences & 3 commercial structures have been destroyed; 3 residences & 6 commercial properties with major damage.
